IMG Global Medical Insurance provides annually renewable international health coverage for individuals and families living or working abroad. Choose from four benefit tiers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with different coverage limits and benefits.
You can tailor your plan through deductible choices, geographic coverage options, and optional riders. Compare the tiers below to understand their outpatient benefits, preventive care, and other features before requesting a quote.
Applications are subject to medical underwriting, which may affect eligibility, premiums, and coverage terms.
Plan tiers offer a range of maximum coverage from $1,000,000 to $8,000,000.
All plan tiers include prescription coverage with varying limits.
Worldwide or worldwide excluding the U.S., Canada, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.
$50,000 maximum per coverage period for Bronze and Silver, up to lifetime maximum for Gold and Platinum.
IMG Global Medical Insurance offers four plan tiers. Bronze provides hospital coverage with restricted outpatient benefits. Silver adds outpatient benefits with defined service limits, while Gold offers broader outpatient coverage and adult preventive care. Platinum adds maternity benefits, routine dental and vision coverage, and a higher lifetime maximum.
Use the guide below to identify tiers worth considering, then review the detailed benefits comparison to assess coverage limits, waiting periods, and tradeoffs.
Who needs coverage? | Plans to consider | What should guide your choice? |
Individuals living or working abroad | Silver or Gold | Consider Silver if you’re comfortable with defined outpatient visit and service limits. Compare Gold for broader outpatient benefits and adult preventive care. |
Individuals prioritizing hospital coverage | Bronze | Consider Bronze if you accept restricted outpatient benefits. Review its treatment-related limits on doctor visits, tests, and prescriptions carefully. |
Families with children | Silver, Gold, or Platinum | Compare child preventive care, outpatient limits, prescriptions, and total family out-of-pocket costs. Gold and Platinum offer broader outpatient benefits than Silver. |
Individuals or couples planning a pregnancy | Platinum | The only tier with maternity and newborn benefits. A 10- or 24-month maternity waiting period, additional deductible, and eligibility conditions apply. |
Retirees living abroad | Gold or Platinum | Compare outpatient care, prescriptions, preventive benefits, and underwriting terms for existing conditions. Confirm age eligibility and options for continuing coverage after age 74. |
Individuals or families wanting more included benefits | Platinum | Consider Platinum for its higher lifetime maximum, private-room hospital benefit, and included routine dental and vision coverage. Benefit limits and waiting periods apply. |
These are starting points for comparing benefits. Your age, destination, budget, medical history, and underwriting terms should guide your final choice.

IMG Global Medical Coverage
Secure your health abroad with trusted IMG plans.
Your IMG Global Medical Insurance premium depends on your age, destination, benefit tier, deductible, optional riders, and underwriting outcome. You can adjust several plan features to balance your premium with the coverage you need.
IMG offers two geographic coverage options:
Choose an area that includes the countries where you expect to need medical care. Geographic coverage affects your premium, and treatment remains subject to your plan’s benefits, limits, and exclusions. Provider choice and U.S. network use can also affect your out-of-pocket costs.
A deductible is the amount you pay toward eligible medical expenses before applicable insurance benefits begin. A higher deductible generally lowers your premium but increases what you may need to pay when receiving care.
Available deductibles vary by benefit tier:
For qualifying international treatment or care arranged through IMG’s U.S. Medical Concierge service, your deductible may be reduced by 50%, with a maximum reduction of $2,500, subject to policy terms.
Also review coinsurance, copayments, and benefit limits when comparing your total potential costs.
Choose from four premium payment schedules:
Compare the total annual premium for each option. Paying annually may offer savings, while monthly payments spread the cost throughout the year.
IMG Global Medical Coverage
Secure your health abroad with trusted IMG plans.
IMG Global Medical Insurance accepts applications from individuals and families of all nationalities, from 14 days old through age 74. Acceptance is subject to medical underwriting and the plan’s eligibility requirements.
U.S. citizens choosing worldwide coverage must be outside the United States on their initial effective date and spend at least six of the following 12 months abroad. They must also spend at least six months outside the U.S. during each renewal coverage period. Additional restrictions apply to non-U.S. citizens applying while in the United States.
New applicants age 75 or older are not eligible for Global Medical Insurance. However, members who enroll by their 65th birthday and maintain continuous coverage through age 75 may transition to IMG’s Global Senior Plan without additional medical underwriting.
Eligible members must complete the required enrollment process and pay the applicable premium. The Global Senior Plan has different benefits and limits, so review its terms before transitioning.

Retiring Abroad
Coverage depends on the tier, applicable policy version, medical underwriting, and any exclusions or restrictions attached to your policy. Disclosing a condition does not guarantee coverage. Review your offered terms carefully before accepting the plan.
IMG reviews your application and medical history to determine whether it can offer coverage and on what terms. It may approve your application, request additional information, offer coverage with exclusions or a higher premium, or decline the application.
The plans are annually renewable, subject to continued eligibility, premium payment, and the applicable renewal terms. Premiums and policy terms may change. Review your renewal documents for any changes to benefits, exclusions, or costs.
U.S. coverage depends on your selected geographic coverage area and eligibility. The worldwide option includes U.S. benefits, subject to applicable residency and time restrictions.
The option excluding the U.S. and certain other destinations provides limited U.S. coverage for emergency illness or accidents, with a 30-day maximum per coverage period and a requirement to use PPO providers. Review your policy before relying on this benefit.
Use IMG’s provider directories to search for doctors, hospitals, and other facilities. Before receiving care, check your coverage, any pre-certification requirements, and whether the provider can bill IMG directly. Direct billing is not guaranteed.
IMG offers a 15-day review period beginning on the initial effective date. To qualify for a full premium refund under this provision, your cancellation request must meet the policy’s requirements and be received within that period.
After the review period, cancellation and any refund are subject to the policy terms. Refunds are not necessarily calculated on a prorated basis.
