How Much Does Health Insurance Cost in the UAE?

Cigna Healthguard Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for the Cigna Healthguard plans are:
- You must be 18 years of age to apply

The Cigna Healthguard Regional Plan provides coverage in the UAE, other countries of the Gulf Corporation Council, the Middle East, and Asia (excluding China, Hong Kong, and Singapore).

Cigna Healthguard International Plan
Worldwide coverage with the option to include cover in the USA with an overall annual benefit maximum of AED 7,350,000 (slightly more than USD$2 million as of October 2021).
Cigna Healthguard International Plus
Worldwide coverage with the option to include cover in the USA with an unlimited overall annual benefit maximum (certain eligibility criteria apply).
Cigna offers 4 tiers for its UAE network of healthcare providers.
Network tier options are:
- General (which excludes high-cost hospitals)
- General Plus (which excludes some high-cost hospitals)
- Comprehensive excluding American Hospital Dubai
- Comprehensive
Yes, Cigna will pay the hospital or medical practitioner directly as long as you receive treatment within Cigna's healthcare provider network in the UAE. Prior authorization is required for all inpatient and day-patient treatments.
Cigna's Global Health Assist program provides policyholders with access to doctors and nurses who can offer a second medical opinion. If your treatment is more complex, then Cigna's network of nurses can take over and provide clinical guidance and reassurance.
Yes, Cigna's plans provide cover for pre-existing and chronic conditions. You must disclose any pre-existing conditions as part of your application. Cigna will communicate their coverage decision in the underwriting summary form during the application process.
Yes, Cigna's plans include emergency short-term medical coverage when you visit a location outside of your selected area of coverage.
The benefits in the Healthy Connect module are not available individually. You must purchase the Healthy Connect module in order to access those benefits.
Cigna will pay the reasonable costs for a return journey, should the need arise to return home for medically necessary hospital treatment.
Cigna will pay for preventative, routine, and major restorative dental treatments up to individual benefit limit and subject to the annual benefit limit per period of cover. A waiting period and co-pay applies to some of the dental benefits.
