Maximum coverage ranges from $1.5 million to $5 million per year, depending on your plan tier.
Complete coverage for inpatient hospital treatment. Most tiers have no limit on outpatient treatment.
All plan tiers provide full coverage for cancer treatment, including full coverage for genome testing.
All plans include emergency medical evacuation cover if you need treatment for a life-threatening or limb-threatening condition that isn’t available locally.
The Gold tier offers robust maternity coverage, while other tiers cover pregnancy complications affecting the mother.

The most inclusive plan with high annual benefit limits and extensive coverage across inpatient, outpatient, mental health, cancer, maternity, and dental. Gold includes routine maternity care, newborn care, enhanced preventive screenings, and a cash benefit upon diagnosis of cancer after six months of enrollment. For globally mobile professionals or families seeking premium protection, Gold delivers William Russell’s highest level of health coverage.
A comprehensive plan offering unlimited outpatient care, private room accommodation, and additional coverage for mental health, well-being, and complementary therapies. Silver includes comprehensive cancer treatment with genome testing and generous benefits for managing chronic conditions. It’s well-suited for expats and families needing extensive global medical access both in and out of the hospital.
A mid-tier plan that adds meaningful outpatient coverage up to an annual limit, including primary care, monitoring of chronic conditions, and some physiotherapy. Members receive comprehensive cancer treatment and semi-private hospital accommodation, plus coverage for complications of pregnancy. SilverLite is ideal for travelers, expats, and professionals who want broader everyday healthcare benefits without the cost of a fully comprehensive plan.
A streamlined inpatient-focused plan designed for essential medical protection. Bronze covers hospital stays, surgery, advanced diagnostic tests, and comprehensive cancer treatment, including semi-private room accommodation. Outpatient benefits apply only to care received within 90 days after a hospital stay, making it a cost-effective option for individuals seeking core medical coverage while abroad.
William Russell determines the rates for your plan based on your age, country of residence, the excess (or deductible) you choose, and your coverage area.
If you choose a per-claim excess, you would pay that cost per claim but not per treatment. For example, if you break a rib and have a $50 per-claim excess, you will only pay that $50 on the first visit. A deductible will reduce your premium cost, but can increase your out-of-pocket expenses.
If you choose a per annum excess (per year deductible), you will need to pay up to the first $5,000 of the overall treatment you receive annually. After that first $5,0000, William Russell will cover all your costs. However, you will pay out of pocket until you meet the deductible.
William Russell also considers your zone of coverage when determining your premium. Zone 1 gives full coverage anywhere worldwide, including restricted coverage in the USA. You’ll have coverage for emergency treatment up to $50,000 received on temporary trips to the U.S. of up to 45 days’ duration.
Zone 2 provides full coverage in most countries but offers limited coverage in several nations where medical care is more expensive, and it does not cover the USA.
Zone 3, only available in Indonesia, gives full coverage in most countries but requires a co-pay in several countries and offers no coverage in the USA.
Zones 4 and 5 are available in Africa only, providing coverage in Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, but with limited coverage elsewhere.
Lastly, Zone 7 provides full coverage in Southeast Asia (excluding Thailand and Singapore), but offers no coverage elsewhere.
Additional USA coverage is only available to members who elect Zone 1 as their coverage zone. USA coverage through William Russell is limited and only covers temporary trips lasting up to 45 days. There is no limit to the number of trips you can make in a single policy period.
Within the 45-day limit, William Russell will pay up to $100,000 for elective medical treatment and up to $250,000 for accident and emergency treatment.

Applicants must be under 76; however, once you are a member, you can continue to renew even if you are over 76. You must be living outside your country of nationality (except for individuals residing in Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, Mauritius, Estonia, and Malawi, who are eligible for William Russell insurance even if they hold a passport from one of these countries).
Due to the extremely expensive costs of private healthcare in the United States, William Russell elected not to include comprehensive US coverage in its plan tiers. Most of William Russell’s policyholders do not require US coverage because they reside elsewhere.
Policyholders have the option to include standard US coverage for short trips to the US. William Russell recommends US citizens who lapsed their domestic coverage include standard US coverage in their plan so they are covered for trips back home.
Standard US coverage is only available to policyholders who select Zone 1 as their area of coverage. USA-45 provides short-term coverage for trips to the US for up to 45 days. William Russell will pay up to $100,000 for elective medical treatment and up to $250,000 for accident & emergency treatment.

With your William Russell health plan, you will have access to top-rated hospitals and doctors within your selected area of coverage zone. Worldwide, William Russell has 40,000 hospitals in its medical network.
If you seek treatment at an in-network hospital or medical facility, William Russell will settle your bills with the hospital directly. You will not have to pay out-of-pocket and deal with submitting a claim afterward.
Premium rates are based on age and increasing healthcare costs. Therefore, policy premium rates increase each year that you renew.
In order to keep your premium at a low cost, members can elect to include a per claim or per annum excess. A per claim excess is the amount you pay each time you submit a claim for a new medical condition. A per annum excess is the total amount you will pay out-of-pocket in a single period of cover.
For example, if you elect a $500 per annum excess, William Russell will not begin to cover medical expenses until you pay the first $500 incurred during your period of cover. After you pay your per annum excess, William Russell will cover the remaining costs for medical treatment.
Refer to page 17 of the William Russell brochure to review the per claim and per annum excess options available.
William Russell offers six areas of coverage zones. Only members residing in Indonesia have the ability to elect Zone 3 as their coverage area. Members residing outside of Indonesia can choose one of the other five zones.
William Russell notes that as a rule of thumb, a more restrictive zone means a greater saving on your premium. Therefore, if you are looking to lower your premium cost, you should elect a more restrictive area of coverage zone.
